Obituary For Alexander Columbus Rush

Reverend A.C. Rush, 90, of Collinsville, MS passed on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, Mississippi. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, July 29, 2021 from Goodway M.B. Church in Philadelphia, Mississippi. Burial will take place in the Donald Rest Cemetery in Philadelphia, Mississippi. Visitation will be held 9:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 29, 2021 from Goodway M.B. Church for the General Public. Beck Funeral Home Philadelphia is in charge of all arrangements.

Revered A.C. Rush was a husband, father, friend, Christian, Pastor, teacher counselor, God fearing fisher of men, full of faith and the Holy Ghost. He accepted his call to ministry in 1960 and was ordained in 1961. For 61 years he labored in the (Ministry, pastoring 51 years, faithfully carrying out God's commission. Rev. A.C Rush pastored Goodway M.B. Church for 36 years until his retirement. Throughout his life he earned other titles such as concrete finisher, carpenter, wood cabinet finisher, black farmer, office manager, warehouse and inventory clerk, delivery driver, community outreach manager, civil rights leader, Star employment program director, chaplain of Philadelphia, MS Police Department and Tougaloo College.

Rev. Rush leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Martha Rush, Children, Sandra ( Rev. Curtis) Jones of Kilmichael, MS, Rev. Timothy ( Katrina) Rush of Prentiss, MS, Terry ( Nancy) Rush of Millington, TN, Rev. Willie (Brenda) Rush of Philadelphia, MS, Denise ( Michael) Edwards of Memphis, TN, Yolanda Odom of Collinsville, MS, Dennis ( Kays) Rush of Philadelphia, MS, Rev. Jarvis ( Jesette) Rush of Philadelphia, MS, Darnell ( Angel) Rush of College Station, TX, and Rendfred ( Dana) Rush of Collinsville, MS , his sister Wevone ( Earl) Webb of Bakersfield, CA, brother in laws, Gene ( Pearl) Thames of Chicago, IL, Sandy ( Ollie) McKenzie, Jimmy ( Lanetta) McKenzie both of Collinsville, MS, 24 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Rev. Rush is preceded in death by his parents Tommie and Dollie Rush and siblings, Roscoe Wilson, Ethel Kelly, Odell Wilson, Addie Clemons, Willie Mae Adams, Leon Rush, Henry C. Rush, Tommie Rush, Jr. and Grady Rush.
