Sarah Ethel Lee McMiller (nee Smith), best known as Ethel, of 213 Dogwood Lane, Fairview Heights, Illinois, formerly of East St. Louis, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at her son’s home in Texas.

Funeral service will be Sunday, May 10, 2026 at 2 p.m., from Bethel M. B. Church, 5559 Crystal Ridge Road, Louisville, MS. Visitation will be Saturday from 4 until 6 p.m., from the Funeral Home.  Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.  Beck Funeral Home of Louisville in charge of arrangements.

Ethel was born January 25, 1941 to the parents of Jimpson Smith and Ida Mae Jackson Smith in Winston County Mississippi.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ida Mae and Jimpson Smith; brother, Robert Lee Smith and his wife, Catherine; sister, Maxie Cornelia Sherrod; and one grandchild. 

Ethel is survived by two sons, Anthony (Tracy) Smith of Richmond, Texas, and Jeffrey McMiller of Fairview Heights; four grandchildren, Antoine Perkins, Cecile Perkins, Dameshalle McMiller, and Jerrica McMiller; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her brother-in-law, Robert Sherrod of Maywood, Illinois; two nieces; two nephews; and a host of cousins and friends.
