John Wesley Ashford

John Wesley Ashford, 97, of Ackerman, Mississippi, passed on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at his home. Funeral service will be Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. from  the Pilgrim Rest M. B. Church, 9272 MS 9, Ackerman, MS. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 24, 2024 from 4 until 6 from the Funeral Home Weir location. Burial will be in the Tyler-McMullen Cemetery. 

Mr. Ashford, was born May 6, 1927 to the parents of Velma Ashford and Dovie Estes in Choctaw County Mississippi. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Velma and Dovie Ashford; Wife, Vivian Ashford; children, Catherine Jean Ashford and Adorth Ashford. 

He survived by his children; John Ashford, Jr, Dorothy (Lee) Harper, Barbara (Charles) Manuel, Dennis (Emma) Ashford, Diane (Walter Jr.) Coleman, Charlsie (George) Kirby, Fredrick (LaJoyce) Ashford, Vera (Roosevelt) Dubose, Joann (Melvin) Johnson, Luther Edwards and Pearlie (Eldres) Meaders; sisters, Ruby Cork, Alee (shannon) McMullen, Lucy (Joe) McKinley; brother-in-law, Howard Frances;  grands, great grands, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
