Lener Mae Griffin, 82, of Union, MS, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025 at 4:00 A.M. from St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi.  Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 21, 2025, from Little Mountain M.B. Church in Union, Mississippi with Pastor Walter Patrick of Little Mountain M.B. Church officiating.  Burial will follow in Little Mountain M.B. Church Cemetery in Union, Mississippi.  Visitation will be held 4:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. Friday, June 20, 2025 from Beck Funeral Home Philadelphia.  Beck Funeral Home Philadelphia is in charge of all arrangements.

Lener was born in Newton County to Herman and Willie Mae (Washington) Thompson on February 18, 1943.  She went to school at Boler High School in Decatur, MS and graduated high school in Milwaukee, Wi.  She began working as a certified nursing aid in Milwaukee.  She eventually returned to MS and was employed at East MS State Hospital and retired while working at Choctaw Residential Center in Choctaw, MS.

She was involved in Little Mountain M.B. Church until her health diminished. She served as a choir member, secretary, and trustee.  She loved organizing programs for the youth at the church. 

Lener was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Willie Mae (Washington) Thompson; two sons Demetrius and Michael, three brothers; Edger Lewis, Clarence and Herman Thompson, Jr., and three sisters; Anne Mae Madison, Eliza Jamison, and Sherman Thompson.

Lener is survived by her two sons: Eddie G. (Vanessa) Griffin of Drummonds, TN, Anthony D Griffin of Milwaukee, WI; daughter, Antonia Griffin of Portland, OR; three sisters: Myrtle Brown (Charles), Rosie Jones, and Era Johnson all of Union, MS; six grandchildren, Tasha Fountain, Gregory Jr. Griffin, Misty A. Griffin of Bossier City, LA; Sanjay (Laketia) Davis of Plantersville, MS and Joshua Griffin of Drummonds, TN Danielle Griffin of Milwaukee, WI: seven great grandchildren: Taleah, Brayden, Jazyya, Xavier, Ja'mal, Naomi and Michael.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers
