Milton Maury

Milton Maury, 87, of Louisville, MS., passed on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at his home.  Funeral service will be Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024 at 11 a.m., from Center Hill Church of God In Christ, 3540 MS-15 South, Louisville, MS.  Visitation will be Friday from 4 until 6 p.m., from the Funeral Home.  Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Beck Funeral Home of Louisville in charge of arrangements.

Milton Maury was born February 6, 1936 to Archie and Lealer Maury in Kemper County, Mississippi.   Deacon Maury accepted Christ under the leadership of Elder G.W. Harris at the Center Hill Church of God in Christ.  He was appointed as a Deacon, Sunday School Treasurer, and an Usher, local, district, and jurisdiction, where he served faithfully.  He was also a member of the gospel group, “The Holy Kings”.

He received his education from the Center Ridge Schools.  He was employed with the Fair Company, East Mississippi Power Association, and finally with Taylor Machine Works where he retired after his health begin to fail.  Deacon Maury was well known for his carpenter skills and his famous mail boxes.  He would help anyone that was in need.    

Slick, as he was affectionately called, was also an avid baseball player, who could have gone to the major league, but instead he chose to come home and marry the love of his life.  He was united in holy matrimony on August 28, 1960 to Sara Lee Estes and to this union (9) children were born.  A union that lasted for 63 years.

Deacon Maury answered his Master’s call on January 25, 2024 at his home.  He was preceded in death by his parents; (2) brothers; (4) sisters; (3) sons; (1) daughter; and a great granddaughter.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted and beautiful wife, Sara Maury; (4) sons, Ray Maury (Vickie), Clifford Maury (Mae), Jerry Maury, and Alonzo Maury all of Louisville, MS; (2) brothers-in-law, Lawrence Estes (Joyce), and Christopher Coburn of Louisville, MS; (20) grandchildren; (19) great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and love ones.
