Robert Lee Thomas, Sr.

Robert Lee Thames, Sr., 88, of Aurora Colorado passed on Thursday, November 26, 2020 in Adams County Colorado. Graveside Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 10, 2020 from the Anderson Jackson, Sr. Memorial Cemetery in Preston, Mississippi. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 10, 2020 for the General Public. from 9:00 until 10:15 a.m. from the Beck Funeral Home Philadelphia location Beck Funeral Home Philadelphia is in charge of all arrangements. Robert L. Thames, Sr. was born in Little Rock, Mississippi July 31, 1932 to William and Hattie Thames. He was the fourth of nine children.

He married Barbara Jackson Thames, 6 children were born to that union. Barbara continued to show her love and devotion for Robert by being his main caregiver after his diagnosis of Alzheimer’s.

At the early age of 17 he joined the Army and became a Medic during the Korean War. He continued to serve his country retiring after 20 years.

Upon his retirement from the Military, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from University of Denver and his Master of Business Administration specializing in Information Systems from the University of Colorado.

After graduating from University of Denver he worked as an auditor for the United States Government Accountability Office (GAO) for 20 years. When he completed his MBA, he taught Computer Science at Florida A&M University.

Robert's main hobby was golfing he taught himself to golf and spent as much time as he could on the golf courses around the world.

He is predeceased by his third child, Monique Thames. He is mourned by his children, Cletis Thames, Regenia Thames, Tangela Thames-Hall (Graham), Katrina Thames, Robert L. Thames, Jr. (Tanya); his 5 grandchildren; Darrell Elliott Jr. (Aryanne), Nicole Hardy-Miller (Joseph), Gabrielle Hardy, Charles Payton Hardy V, Colin Ball; his great grandchild Colin Ball, Jr.; his brothers, Jerry Thames (Berdia), Perry Thames (Lillie); and a host of nieces and nephews.
